110 years ago today, on May 2, 1907, First National Bank received federal banking charter #8671 issued by the Comptroller of the Currency. You may have heard us mention recently that only five percent of community banks have been in business more than 100 years, and First National Bank is one of them. This is no small feat and we are immensely proud of this fact!
First National Bank recently was featured in the Washington County Post's "In Good Taste" section about the value of community banking. Our President and CEO, Tim Purman was interviewed. An excerpt:
"He said the value of community banking is that decisions, like a request for a home or business loan, are made locally and the money they bring in is returned to the local economy. With three branches, in Hartford, Slinger and Richfield, Purman said this means 'you can trust that your money is being redistributed back into (those) areas in the form of loans to fellow residents and entrepreneurs.'"
